Regular
Spanish Courses

10 weeks x 1.5 h Spanish lessons

Each level at Lara’s Spanish Hub is split into two. For example, to complete the beginner level you would need to complete Beginner 1 and Beginner 2.

Spanish Workshops

1 or 2  sessions

PRONUNCIATION: in this workshop we talk about the Spanish sounds and help you improve your accent. 

ESSENTIAL CONVERSATION: in this workshop we will focus on the most important social interactions such as grocery shopping, at the restaurant, at the hotel, etc.

SER & ESTAR: in this workshop we do a deep dive into the uses of these two verbs to demystify them once and for all. 

REFLEXIVE VERBS: a great workshop to learn or revise reflexive verbs and get a hang on when to use them.

POR & PARA: a special workshop to learn to use these prepositions correctly once and for all.

PAST TENSES: if you would like to learn or revise the difference between the Indefinite and the Imperfect tenses, this workshop is perfect for you. 

THE SUBJUNCTIVE: if the mere word “subjunctive” puts the fear of God in you, this is the perfect workshop for you.

Beginner 1

In this Spanish course you will learn:

  • Introductions and greetings: having a simple conversation to introduce yourself
  • Everyday expressions and simple phrases
  • The Spanish alphabet and the sounds of Spanish
  • Basic grammatical concepts (nouns, adjectives, gender, number, etc.)
  • How to ask and give personal information (nationality, profession, address, telephone number, etc.)
  • Numbers
  • Question words (cuándo, dónde, quién, etc.)
  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Grocery shopping: how to buy things at a shop and interact in a simple way

Conversation Classes

Overview

These sessions are focussed on oral communication and are a great way to practise speaking Spanish with a range of activities, such as games, role-plays and real-life scenarios, carefully planned to allow you to practise grammar and vocabulary without thinking about it, in a fun and relaxed way. These classes also help revise and reinforce contents already covered. If you feel like you need some extra speaking practice to gain the confidence to talk to other people in Spanish, then these are the classes for you.

Beginner Conversation Course

Aimed at providing extra speaking practice for students who have already learnt some basic Spanish grammar and vocabulary, roughly equivalent to having completed up to our Elementary 1 level (please refer to our level description page) – or have an equivalent level of Spanish.
IMPORTANT: This course is not for absolute beginners, please read above.

Intermediate Conversation Course

Aimed at providing extra speaking practice for students who already have a good command of Spanish and have acquired knowledge equivalent at least to our level Intermediate 2 (please refer to our level description page) – or have an equivalent level of Spanish.

Advanced Conversation Course

Aimed at providing extra speaking practice for students who already have a very good command of Spanish and have completed our High Intermediate or Advanced Levels – or have an equivalent level of Spanish.

Intensive - Beginner 1

Overview:

  • 5 weeks x 3 hour classes (with a short brake), to be held on Saturday morning.
  • These courses cover the same contents as a regular 10-week course but in a more condensed way, as they take place in half the number of weeks.

Spanish for Travellers

Overview:

6 weeks x 1.5 hour classes

Are you travelling to a Spanish speaking country soon? Don’t leave without our survival Spanish course!

This course is designed around the different situations that you will most likely encounter in your trip. We’ll cover pronunciation, vocabulary and basic concepts that will allow you to interact with the locals and do things like introducing yourself and having a simple conversation with someone, going grocery shopping, ordering food at a restaurant, checking in at a hotel, buying tickets, asking about directions, etc., along with cultural information related to travelling.

No previous knowledge of Spanish is required. All materials included.
